My Bio

MY BIO

About Me

My passion in training athlete’s is what constantly drives me to improve my education and craft as a strength & conditioning coach. I’ve worked relentlessly over the past 10 years to enhance my abilities in the sports science realm, knowing that the payoff is being able to give my athletes a better chance at personal and professional growth. As a S&C Coach I believe that the efforts I put forth will be reflected in those in which I’m leading. Therefore, I make sure I strive to always push myself mentally and physically to my limits, and provide my athletes with a championship environment.

I grew up loving every sport I had time to compete in. Hockey always took the top spot for me and began to consume all of my time and energy. I finished up playing Midget AAA plus a few years of Junior hockey, but unfortunately couldn’t continue due too many severe concussions. The next best thing for my career path was to become a trainer, and therfore I set off to university to obtain a degree in kinesiology. I’m was blessed to have learnt from some of the top recognized sports science professors in the world. Being in this highly academic environment allowed my to find my new passion and true calling as a strength and conditioning coach.

My career working with many different teams and organizations has extended me the honour of training thousands of athletes. With this brings many highs and lows. Yet through it all I still continue to grow more and more passionate about training athletes. A big reason why I never lose my love for training is because of the great potential for so much innovation and research that exists in sport science. But ultimately its watching each athlete I work with improve and get closer to reaching their own personal goals.

Education and Certification

University Degree

I completed my degree in Kinesiology specializing in sport performance from the University of Alberta in 2011. It is one of the most competitive kinesiology schools to get into as its internationally recognized as the 7th best. Learning from the worlds best professors in this academic institution set me up with the knowledge necessary to excel as a kinesiologist/strength & conditioning coach. Over the past decade I’ve continued to further my education in many realms of the sport science world, specifically as it pertains to advancing hockey training methodologies.

Professional Certification

For 10 years I’ve been a member and certified personal trainer with the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology (CSEP). The CSEP organization is recognized as the gold standard in Canada with very high standards required to obtain this status. Exercise professionals with a sport science related degree are required to pass both a written theory exam as well as a practical lab exams, and complete 100 hours of practicum training before you can become certified. I’ve continued to remain in good standing with CSEP and complete the yearly required first aid & CPR certification, as well as professional development credits.
